Paule Constable RDI: Shine a Light

The National Theatre's internationally acclaimed production of War Horse.

Paule Constable is recognised as one of the world's leading theatrical lighting designers, with shows like 'War Horse' and 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. She has won a staggering 5 Laurence Olivier Awards for her groundbreaking work. I had the great pleasure of interviewing her for the RDInsights podcast series where Paule talks about her early life, the devastation the pandemic has inflicted on live theatre and forging a career in a male-dominated profession and much more. Kim Colin: Perfectly formed

I recently had the great pleasure of recording an interview with Kim Colin (above), one half of the product design partnership, Industrial Facility with husband Sam Hecht.

Now in its 16th year, the practice has amassed an enviable international client list, from Herman Miller and Muji to Novo Nordisk to Mattiazzi.

The overarching personality of their work is its beautiful stripped backed simplicity, designed with intelligence and wit as you can see from the examples shown below.

For over four decades Patrick Woodroffe has been a key innovator in the world of lighting design, be it the pop arena with its elite from the Rolling Stones to Adele and in the public space with his spectacular lighting scheme for the 2012 London Olympics, along with musicals, opera, architecture, theatre and film.

Richard Hudson: King of the jungle

This is the theatre designer Richard Hudson. He is known for his stunning opera and ballet sets.
