No.29: This is the story of a sexually frustrated woman who buys a bicycle and gets involved with the bike's previous owner. This witty arrangement of parts says it all. Jurgen Ziewe designed it for Faber & Faber in 2011. This cover retains some semblance of the original house style introduced by John McConnell (Pentagram) when on the board and signalled F&F out as a recognisable 'brand' in bookshops. If ever there was a need to reclaim that approach, it is now to counter the "we all have to look the same" groupthink publishing mentality.
No.30: A classic piece of minimalism from US designer Peter Mendelsund, who I am sure doesn't get messed about with his creations. Published by Pantheon in 2014.
