Things I like...

I am always on the lookout for new books for my grandchildren. I worked in publishing for a decade back in the late 1960's and 70's and I have never shaken off the desire to hold physical books. Kindle just doesn't do it for me.

There is nothing better than reading aloud to a child. I did it with all 6 of my children and loved every moment watching them slowly drift off to sleep as I slowed my voice down and reduced it to a whisper. So Christmas is here and I have my stack of books to distribute to my grandchildren. I came upon this...

It is by Coralie Bickford-Smith she is an in-house designer at Penguin Books and has been there for 14 years and in that time has been responsible for an astonishing array of beautifully crafted covers, both paperback, and hardcover. Now she has written and illustrated her own complete book and it both beautiful to read and look at. You can watch Coralie talking about her work and book here.
