This was the instruction I used to give to Conway and Face (the two main photosetting houses in London) to achieve just the right letter spacing for that late 60s early 70s dynamic look. And if they didn’t have the typeface you wanted it was the norm to find it in a book or magazine, have it photographed and then cut the individual letters out using one of these…
And then stick the letters down individually with this stuff…
