I’ll be taking part in the day long Design for Music/ Music and
Design bonanza at St Bride Library this coming Friday from 8.45a.m.
My slot is at 11.30 a.m. ‘Classical Crossroads’ will be discussing
the role of design within classical music, from performance posters and
branding to the ‘lost opportunities’ of digital downloads. Along with me will
be Philip Sheppard (in the Chair), Robin Kinross, and Peter Quantrill.
Why am I taking part? Well, back in the 80s I designed the identity for
the London Chamber Orchestra (LCO) and English National Opera (ENO). I no
longer work for the latter but I still have the pleasure of regular involvement
with LCO. For those who haven’t seen the work I created for them during my
former life at Carroll, Dempsey & Thirkell here is just a little of my efforts over the past two decades…
