Jean Seberg & Audrey Hepburn
They’re here for no other reason than I love them. Both were out of their time and look fabulous right now. If you have never seen Jean Seberg in ‘À bout de soufflé (Breathless) 1960, directed by Jean-Luc Godard, sporting that very neat hair cut, then go rent the DVD right now. As for Miss Hepburn take look at the beautiful portrait by Jack Cardiff hanging in the Groucho club. Lovely.

Hi Mike
I've really enjoyed reading your posts today. Thought provoking, interesting and whimsical. Thanks so much for sharing your writing, it brightened my Friday.
The portrait of Jean Seberg reminded me how seldom you see people smoking these in images these days. It's been quietly but effectively wiped from our visual stimuli. I wonder if that's an acknowledgment (by who? i'm not sure who makes these decisions) of the power of images to influence? That they can affect our cultural-psyche?
Anyway, it's a gorgeous image and the 2nd one (with the sweater) is really evocative of its time.
Thanks for a wonderful read.
=) Marc
